Mixed bag of reviews this weekend:

Scaryminds minds really liked "Pack Rules" in the new, repackaged After The World:

Comics Forge, on the other hand, did not like The Sixsmiths One Shot:

Me, I liked 'em both. I don't think you should find that surprising ( Read more... )

The reviewer at comicsforge is a bit harsh. He keeps judging it by what he 'wanted' it to be, or how it 'should' have been done, rather than on itself. I wouldn't take too much to heart your failed attempts at telepathy on someone who writes lines like;

"The writing itself is very bland, and tries hard to be humorous and cleaver [sic] but fails miserably repeatedly."

Ah, bad reviews come with the territory. I feel bad that he didn't get what was going on. The other thing this review highlighted for me was how unclear it was that the one shot was supposed to be a promo for the graphic novel. We don't ever even mention it in the one shot and it seems as if a lot of people thought that was all there was--a bunch of gag strips.

Ok, so grammar isn't a strong point. I get positive reviews written with bad grammar as well.

As for the actual statement about money... well, realize that this was a promo book with a cover price of $1.00. I don't think that even meets the publisher's printing costs.
