doing it ourselves

I'm currently in Los Angeles at USC for 24/7: a Do-It-Yourself Video Summit, and I am having an absolute blast. The weather is perfect, the company is phenomenal, and the academic media conversation is twelve kinds of delicious. I'm here with laurashapiro, absolutedestiny, heresluck, renenet, cesperanza, and projectjulie representing the fanvidding cabal, so I'm pretty much living on cloud nine. My brain might ( Read more... )

Um, dude? cesperanza is one of my total favorite fic writers in the world and omg I had no idea you knew her. Please don't tell her that I love her writing so much I frequently pretend it's canon. Actually maybe don't tell her about me at all. I don't want to frighten her. But seriously. She's freaking amazing. Um. SHARKS. That is all.

I'm so happy you're having good fun. That place sounds fascinating, and I hope you learn a lot and make even more awesome friends. I love you.

I'm pretty sure everybody pretends Cesca's stories are cannon. That's why we can watch this stuff even when it's not always really that good. : )

Seriously, though, I read everything she wrote on Due South before I ever saw an episode. The show itself is good, but her version makes it so much better.

Dude, I wasn't making some big action or dramatic gesture or anything, we just hadn't talked in a long time, never swap comments anymore, and I'm pretty much out of the convention loop altogether these days. I just keep my flist pared down to people I'm actively engaged with or close to, and I happened to tidy it up yesterday. I don't take the lj-friending thing so seriously as to think this particular instance would've made it appropriate for me to say something (we weren't close buddies or anything). It's not like I won't hug you if I see you again at a con or something; this isn't an act of war by any stretch.

I'm glad you had such a great time in your travels abroad, and I really hope your new direction works out for you!
