Based on this and my own experience, I would be willing to bet that as this particular story was spread, details were changed to adapt to each market. It would be interesting to learn just how many variants there are. I'm guessing that the one constant is "That's a Bozo No-No!"

The other day in my high school AP Biology class, my teacher was telling us how she played the real Bozo buckets in the 70's. She told us that the boy who went after her was a chubby, 11 year old kid who missed the second bucket in Bozo buckets. Because he missed, he said "oh shi*!" Bozo then said to him, "That's a Bozo no-no." The kid then responded "Clam it, clownie!" Someone in my class told her that he had heard that story before, even though she didn't believe him. In fact, it is an urban legend but it really is true. It makes sense that people often say this happened in Chicago because it really did. I'm glad to prove this legend true!
