Had my 9-month dermatology appt yesterday, and it appears that nine months is long enough to gestate some new cancer shit. Whee. I have a lentigo on both cheeks, which we've been watching and photographing for probably 10 years or so. The one on the left cheek changed radically since last time; it's much larger and much darker now. So two biopsies ( Read more... )

Bah, what a pain. That sucks! But i'm glad you're being proactive about it.

My family has a lot of cancer, too - well, my dad's family. Sadly, most of it is GI or colo-rectal cancer, which is so not yay. But, we persevere.

I'm glad you've found good family with your cousin. That's good.

*hugs back* GI cancer is the other one besides skin cancer for my family as well. Daddy and my mom's brother. I'm having a colonoscopy and EGD this Thursday. (Ugh. Yuck. Not looking forward to the stuff you have to drink.)

Biopsy hell is a terrible hell! It's good that you're getting onto it, though - living in a rural area of Australia I see so much skin cancer and (mostly) men who just won't do anything about it until it's a major problem. Good on you for keeping track.

Yeah, I think West Texas is sort of like Australia, if not quite as bad as there -- just about everyone gets some form of skin cancer sooner or later around here. I wasn't as cautious before I had the melanoma, but these days I am pretty damn compliant. Nothing like having the shit scared out of you to have you toe the line. LOLOL.

Whenever I have to have another biopsy, which is pretty frequently, I try to remind myself that it's better then the alternative. It's not fun to go through this over and over again but it does help to have people who can distract you while you await the results. I'm so very glad that you have that support in place. I'll think good thoughts re the test results. {{{hugs}}}

*hugs* I just try to get on with life while waiting. The first day is always bad, but you gotta live your life. I have a colonoscopy and upper GI scheduled for this Thursday, too -- I guess December is compliance month for me. LOLOL -- and thank you for the good thoughts!
