It is not Dean's responsibility to make Sam feel better. By which I mean, it is not Dean's ROLE to do that. I've advocated a modicum of self-interest on Dean's behalf before, and while I don't mean that to be at the expense of others, at all, I still think it's necessary for HIS growth as a person. Dean's co-dependence has been a hallmark of this series; it's good to see him say what he really thinks.

Yeah, this is why I couldn't get all pissy like many fans did when Dean said in the season finale that he didn't feel like Sam was even his brother or blood, or something like that. I understood what he meant, and it was good to hear him finally break and get really fed up for the first time in his entire life of devotion to Sam and family. Because real people in real families do give up, they do say things in frustration and anger, and that's not exactly unhealthy. It's just ... realSo I am pleased to see Dean's feelings of betrayal and frustration not deus ex machina'd away the second the new season starts. I only wish Bobby would ( ... )
