A (Sorta) Brief Update

Nov 07, 2013 10:57

The job hunt continues. I keep getting first interviews, but no second interviews-- though I'm told that I "score high" at my interviews. Another unfortunate factor in my job hunt... it's taken me 2.5 months to notice that Word auto-corrected my mailing address. I've fixed it, but it means that every ADOT job I've applied for since August 'till the ( Read more... )

Thanks a bunch for keeping us in your prayers. It's a HUGE comfort to me.

We've talked about what to do about money, and have decided to dip into my 401k. I know there's going to be a huge tax penalty, but we really don't have any other options. It's the only money we can really use. Also, I'm sure we can get church welfare too if we asked for it. The Mormon church is notorious for their welfare system. Though, I'd consider that a "last resort"... I might ask for help paying the electric or something. We'll figure it out. Jordan and I are resourceful.

Thank you for the story of your life experience. Sometimes, I get so focused on the here-and-now and how difficult it is, I fail to think about the temporary nature of life-trials. Things always seem to work out as they ought to.

=)

Hope the interview with ADOT pans out for you! Sounds like you are keeping busy. I'm so impressed that you're able to write for NaNo, WITH David and job hunting, and car trouble and being ill.

I read the excerpt for your story. If you're thinking you'd like to publish it when you finish, let me know. I'm 99% certain it would get accepted at Wild Child. (It's better than most of the stuff I've worked on lately.) Maybe if I'm lucky, I'd even get to choose it out of the queue before anyone else got to it. You'd still probably have to wait a year before I could work on editing it - fairness and all that, some of those folks have been waiting longer than that - but at least it'd be on my list of things to work on. :)

LOL-- well, if I finish writing my "novel", I'll be sure to try publishing it with Wild Child. Do they do actual, physical books or just e-books? My friend Angela got her novel "Valecito Knight" published, but they refuse to print it... so I won't read it because I hate reading on computers. I guess this is motivation to finish my NaNoWriMo novel!-- Not so sure if I'll be able to win NaNoWriMo, but I'm digging the story I have going on so far! It seems to be writing itself.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get this ADOT job. It's a lot of public relations... which... eh... I'm not exactly the best candidate for... I can do the cost estimate and probably the scoping portions, and I could do the PR aspect too... but I don't believe the job was a good fit. I just applied for a CADD Engineering Specialist position in Prescott that feels more right than most jobs I apply for... and though I know it'd require moving... I think Jordan would like it because it snows there and they have trees. LOL. He wanted to move to Flagstaff before he met ( ... )
