I recently commented to my husband how I thought English (as in England English) accents were delightful. This was inspired by the cashier at the food store, who clearly was sporting a delightful and natural English accent. Having "caught" the accent when in England some +10 years ago... Vowels and consonants change when you stretch them out to sing them.It goes the other way, too. Like, asked to sing "together" and hold the last syllable, many american permers will sing "togethaaaaaaaahhhhhh." But then there's REO Speedwagon, singing "tagetherrrrrrrrrrrr."

... that made more sense in my head, maybe, than it does typed out.

... yeah... which is why I'm sitting here singing "togethaaaaaaaahhhhhh" and "tagetherrrrrrrrrrrr" in an effort to make it sound right in my head. Unfortunately, I'm not a morning person (my brain is slow on the up-take this early)... and I can't sing... and because it's morning I didn't think about the conflict of interest in singing at work.

You do make a good point, though. I think I get the difference now... but I'm trying to apply that theory to the Spice Girls music and my brain is shutting down! Argh!

Well it probably isn't safe to try and apply ANY theory to Spice Girls music, so not only am I not surprised, but now my brain is shutting down, too.
