Heh, I liked the picture of the two dogs held upside down and 'greeting' each other. :)

A very few breeds have viciousness and aggression bred into them. The rest remain good-natured creatures. The story of Hector and his reactions to being put in the kennel broke my heart. I HATE that Vick and Company got jail time for the racketeering but, like most animal abusers, will likely get a cursory slap on the wrist for torturing and tormenting and killing dogs.

Yeah, I don't get that either (the last part). Why is it worse to be involved in racketeering than it is to abuse/kill animals?

I do admit to getting a little teary-eyed reading the article...

I loved that article! It's so great to hear a story about rehabed Pit Bulls listening to YoYo Ma. I am always deeply bothered at the bad press that Pit Bulls get when it's the owners who are really the ones at fault.

The healing power of music. :)

I admit that there was a time when I wasn't quite so fond of Pit Bulls, but over time (and seeing them in other contexts) have changed my mind. Not necessarily a dog I would ever have (I like floofy!) but I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to cuddle one. ;)

They have nice velvety skin and they snort when they're happy. I was in PetsMart once and this big burly guy had a Pit Bull on a big burly leash... the Pit Bull took one look at me and flopped over for belly scratchings. His person just rolled his eyes.

There have been a couple at the dog park, Kyle was sooo fascinated by a big male, who wasn't sure what to do with Kyle... *laughs* He was very soft and amenable to pettings. (though he DID become more than a little obsessed with the little female American Bulldog that wandered by... Pretty little thing SHE was).

I'm just a floof lover (as witnessed by my having two long haired cats and a floofy coated dog....).

I'd get a pittie if I had the time. Though I'm more inclined to hounds in general (and most likely to get a mutt anyway). They're beautiful dogs, and very loyal. Someone on baaaaaaaaaabyanimals (I never remember how many a's in that) a year or so ago kept up on updates while their pitbull puppy grew up. She was (and is, I'm sure, but she's an adult now and not eligible for that com) a gorgeous dog!

Time is definitely a factor I didn't fully take into consideration when we got Kyle... Hmm, I don't have baaaaabyanimals on my 'favored communities' list, I may have to change that again. ;)

There is a woman on thedogcommunity that has a beautiful Dobie, and her friend has a gorgeous pittie named Ruby. Unfortunately someone mutilated her ears in an attempt to crop them. She's still a beautiful girl though.

hounds are fun- as long as they're not the baying kind in the city. *grins* a friend had a walker treeing coonhound (or some assembly of those words) and his bay can be heard for miles... upset her neighbors before she moved out to Laingsberg.

:) I first saw it on a Yahoo! e-mail group I'm on, and it made me so happy to know that these dogs got a second chance, that I had to share. :)
