Indeed, if it's possible, please let us know.

My first guess . . . well, my first guess would be that you have to re-tag the individual posts by hand with your new tag.

My second guess would be . . . um . . . rename the redundant tag in the manage tags?

I have no idea.

Yes, renaming the redundant tag should work. Then you can delete the old tag. All that can be done in the manage tags area, so it works on all your posts.

How can I tell if that worked? I tried doing that, but the old tags were not renamed, they were still listed as being in existence. (I expected the old tag to still be in the list, until I deleted it, but I also expected the number of uses to drop to "0".)

Weird. I just practiced and the renamed tag only showed up under the new name; the old name wasn't even on the list. I don't know what to try next, since it didn't 'behave' the same way for me.
