Edmund is in the kitchen, making tea.
This surprises no-one.
He's also thinking of catching up his correspondence, which might be a surprise if anyone knew that.
Considering how late the hour, and the fact that Alex is asleep on the couch again, he's attempting to be fairly quiet, and has more-or-less decided to save the letters for the morning.

They're very red.

The not-quite-boiling teapot gets ignored in favor of crossing the room to join her, tentatively resting a hand at the small of her back.
"Are you hurt?" he asks, quietly.

It's a fairly good answer in and of itself to his question.
"I don't know. You might have decided you liked it better than the bed," because this is logic.

He smiles at her, a little, crookedly. "The couch is a perfectly serviceable couch, and not bad for sleeping, but I don't think it's terribly comfortable for two people in such a manner."
