"Mmmph."

He just had to sleep alone.

She had to sleep alone and had NINJAS attacking her.

So perhaps it is not surprising that her response is to roll on top of him and hold him rather like a child holds a stuffed animal. "Wanna light the menorah with me tonight?" she murmurs after a few minutes.

"... that sounds like a remarkably disturbing euphemism," he says, although he interrupts himself partway through for a yawn.

Also, she is not the only one in teddy-bear mode.

"Git." That's an elbow to his ribs. "Do I make innuendos about your religion?"

She just names their pet after his Messiah-figure.

"And I came back from Japan for this. Hmph."

He chuckles, wincing, as his arms tighten around hers in an attempt to pin them and keep her from doing that again.

... Or possibly because he hasn't seen her in a week, and has missed her terribly, and simply wants to hold her that much closer.

"Love you, my lady," he murmurs, kissing her forehead again, and then her cheek, nuzzling a little on his way down to kiss her properly.
