Oh, honey. It really is a sad time for many of us. Your icon is beautiful however. So lovely that you could adopt this homeless dog. Very beautiful. And you and Nin have wonderful, big hearts.

I know what you mean about doomsday. I've been going back to church since I quit work. And so many of the things happening now is just chilling. I thank God that we live in a nation where I can practice my faith without persecution. Or those who have other beliefs can live their lives without having to answer to someone else or have to defend their beliefs.

I'm having thoughts about the Shortcuts this year as well. I really have no ideas at all. And I'm not sure the person I wrote for last year liked my story very much. Which I hate because it really was a gift for her. Also, everyone guessed my story was mine. Darn it. So kind of blah about the whole thing at the moment.

You are not alone. Repeat, you are not alone. Since Mom died I've also been steeling myself against some unforseeable new painful disaster. I hate the daily news--so much so that I don't even allow the radio to drone on after the weather and traffic during my commute.

I'm depressed. I know I am, and I wish I could bypass it, but I can't. So, yes, I can relate.

Enjoy the puppy. Pet her, love her, marvel at how uncomplicated she is. Some of that joy is bound to seep through, sweetie, and THAT will be the start of good things.

(((hugs)))

Glad to see you posting again. Cute doggie. If you need another month, so be it. I can understand how you might be feeling down about now. Sending hugs.

{{{{Hugs}}}} Hope your brother is doing better.

With Vala, you may now have someone who insists on keeping your bed warm. We had to expand from a Queen to a King because the "puppy" insists on taking up the middle of the bed. On the good side we don't need an electric blanket anymore.

This evening my son and I managed to close the pool between when I got home at 6pm and 8-ish (in the dark), between showers. It is no fun working in 54º water when the air temps are in the 40s. (Yes, I do use waders when it is that cold, but still.)

We ended up with Simon in our bed because he got spooked when we were out camping and ended up in our sleeping bad to keep him quiet. He decided it was just what he wanted, so ...

When we got home he insisted in sleeping between my wife and I. Two years and another dog later we upgraded from a Queen to a King bed. But only one of the dachshunds sleeps with us.

The younger one, Samuel, sleeps with our son when we are home. Otherwise he curls up next to me in the sleeping bag.

Simon is pictured in the icon on this post and Samuel is pictured in the icon of the preceding post.
