Here is part 2 of the list of things that irk me in writing. Part 1 can be found here. As always, the list is subjective, my opinion is my own, etc. Well, maybe not completely my own since the list was brought to you by the combined efforts of moi and shirogiku. XD

Twilight is arguably not the best source to illustrate things with because let's face it, it has so many issues that it's nearly impossible to find anything that's not an issue there.hahaha XD Putting down Twilight is never not satisfying on some levelXD ( ... )

I loved Arya in the first two seasons but she did become quite flat in season 3. I guess it's one way to deal with PTSD and everything she's been through. She became too withdrawn. But I have a nagging suspicion that it's not the character's fault, but again, the writing. I can't say I liked anyone in s3, not even my bb Dany whom I adore, or Tyrion who is my favourite dude there. Some had better luck than others but overall s3 was such a mess... not even a mess, but I feel like nothing noteworthy has happened! Like, Tyrion mostly kept angsting about the wedding, Dany had some obscure military plans that I din't even bother to understand, Arya glared at everyone. It almost feels like Robb and Catelyn were lucky: at least they died and got ppl's attention O_o
I think it's normal that Sansa's story would seem more unsettling than the Red Wedding (and it's a big success of the writing imho) b/c massacres like that fortunately don't happen very often but girls like Sansa live through such abuse very frequently, alas. :(
Ooh, cool article! ( ... )

Definitely moving away from it :)))

I agree about Orphan Black))) It lacks fun men but girls are doing well.

Alison broke her mold of a housewife with flying scores. Helena was touchingly vulnerable for a supposed psycho. Sarah taking responsibility is a fairly common trope for a reluctant (anti)hero (but not so much heroine) but she does very human things like having sex bc she wants to.

I didn't touch on it because it's related but imho not in the same category, but quite often it seems you can't have a show driven both by interesting men and women. You either end up with SPN where women may be interesting but end up as cannon fodder, or Orpahn Black where guys come as a supplement for cool ladies. Idk, I like Felix f.ex. But I don't much like Paul, that cop dude or the villains.

So much agreement up in here.

ALTHOUGH LMAO @ #8 BECAUSE I WAS LIKE "....PRONGS?"

I still don't like Sansa but at the same time get the odd urge to defend her

LOL, I was going to write about the symbolism of Harry's Patronus, but it wouldn't fit because it symbolizes his father rather than some generic stag, I think. And anyway, it doesn't annoy me XD
You know... I think it's all a matter of reasoning. I don't like Robb but if smn told me he sucks as a character, I'd defend him too. I don't like him because he just bores me. It doesn't mean he's a lousy character. There is so much shit directed at Sansa purely because she's not [insert any popular character in this fandom]. But who says she has to be someone other than herself? O_o After all, if she'd been more like Arya, ppl would have bitched about having two Aryas XD

I can never decide if I'm more annoyed about Crumb pointing out that Hal and Alex like each other, or by Lia doing the same to Annie in series 3. I think the Lia example annoys me a little more, just because Annie's response to it felt a little more extreme. I mean pretty much *everything* about Crumb annoys me, and I actually like Lia, but beside all that.

But yes, definitely an annoying trope! (and admittedly one I've been guilty of using when writing fanfic at times as well). And also agreed on the rest of this (though I can't say I feel particularly strongly about deer/elk/stag symbolism, but now that you mention it, it is pretty common, yeah)

Well, at least Lia is sort of doing it for revenge and her revenge is plot-relevant... I find it befuddling that Lia is supposedly a regular ghost but has surprisingly a hell of a lot of power. But other than that, it doesn't annoy me all that much.
I think I mostly became annoyed by deer when Hannibal appropriated it. There have been a lot of deer images lately. O_o

I might be blanking on some things from Series 3, but aren't Eve's ghost tricks throughout series 4 pretty similar to what Lia manages? The TV/radio stuff and well, I guess Eve doesn't reanimate corpses and have them sing. She does manage to release another ghost from purgatory or wherever Kirby came from though.

The fact that Lia and Eve can manipulate/interfere so much from purgatory does make you wonder that there aren't slews of other revengeful/driven ghosts trying to accomplish similar things from beyond though.

Ah, pretty much everything I see regarding Hannibal via Tumblr has turned me off of ever watching that show, but I do recall seeing some deer images in association with it, yeah.

Haha true. Eve's abilities also baffle me. XD TV/Radio seems like a common way to contact this side, Annie did it too. But the others? What's the use of the men with sticks and rope if they don't police Purgatory in any way? XD They seemed so controlling in that webseries about Annie in Purgatory, and she seemed really scared of them. But they're lame.
I've never seen Hannibal, I refuse to watch it. I even had to blacklist the tag b/c oh so annoying. But it made me recall many other cases of deer symbolism. XD

Good point... Maybe it's because Annie had more experience with these things, but honestly, I think it's just bad writing. I would never have imagined Alex forgiving Hal so easily. I couldn't have predicted this. It came out of nowhere, and poor Alex is the victim of fail!Toby. T_T
Thank you! <333

That's my problem too. :( I can't even make up excuses for them anymore((
LOOOOL, poor Rook. Yet another victim.
Oooh yes, I rec it! It's a great show, featuring some really badass characters and a pretty interesting storyline. And the acting is superb. And it's not long, one season so far, with season 2 coming up. :)
