In defence of Kevin Mccallister

I don't know if anyone here loves the first two Home Alone movies as much as I do, so feel free to skip this post, but I can't keep quiet because Tumblr once again pissed me off. It's weird because I usually only get riled up about my fandoms. Home Alone was by no means ever a fandom for me, but I think it's safe to say that Kevin is one of the ( Read more... )

:D Thank you! (And yes, that's right)))
Oooh, these look yummy!
I like the 1995 version but... I have to admit, I like the 2005 movie more. I know the 1995 version is more true to the book in details and Colin Firth is gorgeous but I love the atmosphere of the later film (the scenery, the camera work, the music are all stunning) and I like Keira Knightley as Lizzie better. :)
I can't say I have a tradition to watch smth specific on Christmas (I don't even celebrate it, especially the Russian one); I just catch whatever is on telly but stuff like Home Alone usually is. I rewatched the 2nd one today and went to look for some gifs on Tumblr, then saw that post and it pissed me off. Apparently now I overanalyze everything, even silly comedies. XD (Though I wouldn't say these two are silly per se.)

I don't know if it has anything to do with generation gaps. I know opinions on the 2005 film are divided: a lot of people love, a lot of people hate it. But I don't think it's even that different from the book. It's just more compact so to speak. XD
Hahaha, good point, yes. XD I mostly do that on New Year's Eve.

I love these movies as well and your post is excellent.

As for Tumblr, I'm on the same opinion we discussed, it's good for pretty pictures but 90% of the "conversations" there are bullshit.

Thank you. <333
Oh, I don't even read them most of the time, but you know how it is: you notice smth sometimes and can't help but read it and then it annoys the living hell out of you. XDDDD

I love all the points you raised and you did so very correctly. C: They always play the Home Alone movies around Christmas in Bulgaria too. xD Very nice movies. C: Gotta love em. C:

(Can't believe there would be anyone to diss any part of them to begin with. O.o)

Thank you! <33
Haha, I think I even have the first film in Bulgarian, downloaded from Torrents. But it's not dubbed and the quality of the sound is lame, so English is louder than Bulgarian. XD
I couldn't believe it either. People are WEIRD.

Lol yeah, that's the dubbing system of my childhood. And then they wonder why I turned out to know English so well. xD Since it was the thing that was louder, who wouldn't start picking it up along the way?! xD

I think some folks have serious issues with the ways they interpret shit, or where they direct their anger. At least that's the only plausible reasoning I could have for a pointless act such as lashing out against Home Alone. Seriously. Who does that? xD

The same as we have here))) Lately people mostly dub things completely but you can still find such voice overs on TV.
Oh, that's so true! But if they at least tried to find some plausible drawbacks in it... But nooo, it's just mindless hate for hate's sake. And very easily opposed if even I can do that. XDDD

I LOVE these films. ♥ I had no idea people were being this ridiculous over a little boy, but I guess people will always find something to complain about. :/
