So there was an earthquake today which made it an eventful second day of school. We were on the second floor and we DEFINITELY felt it and I got to evacuate sixteen second graders many of whom were crying. On the plus side, I have had the opportunity to instruct people to duck and cover as something other than a joke which is pretty awesome.

I don't know if anyone else is watching what's going on at the Discovery Channel building (maybe it's only huge news in DC), but in case not there's a gunman with hostages in there and he might have explosives (there is something strapped to him but they can't confirm what it is). I'm spending my day trying to make a pumpkin pie from scratch (i.e. an actual pumpkin and non-pre-made crust) and crocheting a sweater for my stuffed panda.

In fairness, he needs a sweater to match the hat I made him yesterday, so that's actually very reasonable.

Yeah, my husband and I just bought nineteen hundred Magic cards off E-Bay.

So I'm chaperoning a prom tonight, which is...unexpected?

I plan to wander around telling people to "leave room for the Holy Spirit", which is what I was told by the chaperones at the dance I went to when I was twelve.

Also at dinner I realized that someone should be required to write the book/play/screenplay A Starship Named Desire. I am so full of brilliant ideas it just hurts sometimes.

I have come up with a BRILLIANT idea for a sitcom. It centers around the hilarious events following a peasant revolt in medieval England, and it is titled...wait for it...Serfs Up!, complete with exclamation point.
