I think I'd have strangled her too in that situation. It's not like he's stable at the time yet it gets used against Six. And last time I saw it I realised that she does nothing but bitch at him from the moment he's not beige anymore.
I definitely need to give Delta a rewatch, because it's one of Seven's stories where I can't really watch it apart from the Doctor's scenes (and, yes, he's adorable).
There are actually a lot of things in it that are somewhat reminiscent of Cartmel's last PDA, Atom Bomb Blues
Huh. One of these days, I really should try to read those PDAs (not to mention the EDAs)!
him dealing with Ray and her emotional problems despite being clearly out of his depth
I love him looking as if he'd like to try to help her when she's crying over her relationship with Billy, but he really has no clue how to react properly.
(fandom's always "I wish we'd had Ray instead of Ace"
Some of fandom says that. I don't. Ray had potential, and was being set up as a possible companion, but I'm glad we got Ace.
Incidentally, though, Mel doesn't scream at the baby; she screams at the weird metal thing belonging to the alien woman who's been brandishing guns at her until about two seconds ago suddenly starting to open.Do people actually say she screams at the baby

I seem to remember that odd friendship being written about in greater detail in the novelization of the story, but can't recall if it was slashy, sorry.
I remember reading the Target some time in the late '80s and thinking it was quite good in terms of going into more detail than most of Uncle Terry's efforts did.
I can't help thinking that Twin Dilemma's biggest problem in terms of fandom's reception of it is that it came at the end of S21 rather than the beginning of S22. If they'd had Peri and Six getting to know each other better starting the next week rather than after the best part of a year, people (including next year's writers, I can't help but think) wouldn't have been left with this impression of their relationship being so dysfunctional.
Well, OK, its biggest problem is the twins. But they're not noticeably worse than Fred and George in the Potter films, IMO.
I'd never heard "I wish we'd got Ray instead." 4 reals?
I watched Twin Dilemma at the weekend too, incidentally (my last ever Colin-I'd-never-seen-before) but I'm still wrapping my head around what I think of that.
Gives a whole extra layer of color to the Rock Scene in Mindwarp, dunnit? :/
There was a secret about it one time, I think? And I think the Ace-hating contingent do see her as more acceptable for some reason, but I tend to ignore them.
I love Ray. Write me some Ray/Mel? :D DatB is a pretty fun story.
Oh, now see that's not fair, planting ideas in my brain when I've still got my Yuletide fic to write. (The immediate problem with Ray/Mel is that they barely interact on screen, because they're busy setting Ray up as potential companion; but that's easily handwaved with a bit of AUery or bringing Ray on board without Mel leaving. Dammit. I am having ideas.)
TD was very slashy. Problem was how hard it sucked, and, well, Six! I've come around on him but still don't want to pair him with anyone. Argh.

I don't mind Peri bitching, though. She had a lot of trauma herself and Six didn't exactly make it easier.
