I spent a good portion of the weekend catching up with my various television shows. So, I'm up to date with Criminal Minds, NCIS, Supernatural (holy crap - but more on that later). And I'm catching up on Leverage, The Mentalist and Life.

That's a very good point. I totally forgot. How terrible.

I think my excuse is that I watched 416 and 418 back to back and it was something of an emotional rollercoaster.

I can't believe I forgot Sam trying to kill her *shakes head*

*headdesk* I can't believe I missed that Smith & Wesson thing.

And how much did I want to slap Sam for saying that Dean could no longer do the job?
Sam not talking to him and assuming he knows best.
I think Sam's more worried about whatever it is inside Dean that's keeping him going, finally giving out. He doesn't want Dean to end up as a fetal-positioned figure in a padded cell, which (I would assume) should be most reactions to hell. I think it was meant more in a "Dean could no longer do the job and stay Dean". More than once they made the reference of Dean leaving a part of himself in hell. Dean, himself even makes that comment to Cass about not being the same person when he's done with torturing Alister.

Also there is the fact that while they are family, they are also guys. Men do not like owing each other anything. It's a pride thing. Dean's taken care of Sammy his entire life. Sam wants to be able to take care of Dean now that the illusion of "invincible big brother" is gone. Dean's done everything for Sam. He's died. He's ( ... )
