Janis should have known that agreeing to join Serena's study group was a bad idea.
For one thing, Serena was really pretty, in an annoying, distracting kind of way. Janis sat behind her in their Constitutional Law class and often she caught herself staring at the back of Serena's head, imagining what it would be like to run her fingers through Serena's shiny, golden hair, while her notebook sat blank, unattended to on her desk.
Serena was also clever, too, which was another box that got ticked off on Janis' mental list of Things I Really Like About Girls. Serena was always the first to have her hand up, ready with an answer, when the professor posed a question to the class; she put in long hours in the library; she was the first person to volunteer when it was asked for.
