The feral Quakers (that sounds like a band, doesn't it?) are only taking over the niche left behind when the Carolina Parakeet was hunted to extinction. Well, and competing against pigeons for the urban sky-rat spot...

That *should* be a band.

I'm not familiar with the Carolina Parakeet. It can't possibly have been native, could it? Another hardy tropical-ish bird?

Cool. Although not about the extinction, just the fact that parrots occupied an ecological niche here.
