Round 38: Old School vs. New School
September means back to school for a lot of us, so we decided to go back to school with this round as well.  Our inspirations are fit into two categories of contrasting styles...and your assignment for round 38 is to find the contrasts in your work as well.  "Old School" icons have a certain look, but may also be made with older techniques and ideas; "New School" icons, while adhering to a certain aesthetic, should also push you to try out a few things in your graphics program that you've never done before.  Your sets should be based on this post, and should include at least five icons in each style.  You only have twenty days to complete this assignment, don't be late...


・All icons must be made specifically for this challenge, and by you.
・Icons must be inspired by this post and its contents, and fit the theme laid out in this post.
・Icons must be within LiveJournal standards (100x100 pixels, .png, .gif, or .jpg format; 40kb or less).
・Your post should provide 3 examples and a cut (real or fake) leading to a public post.
