I've been hit up by adult/child begging teams, but robbery is just shitty.

Right on the side of the road, in broad daylight even! She thinks that it was part of a gang initiation possibly, since he was so young and only asked for $20.

Nah, I think gang initiation is stretching it a little. Most likely it's just a team of thieves. Pretty common.

Yeah, possible: She only thought it was odd that, if he thieved for himself, he wouldn't go ahead and take the wad of cash and cell phone that he had definitely seen in her purse.

That's why she thought maybe someone had put him up to it.

But hell, we're just trying to be amateur Jessica Fletchers! :)
