I am a huge fan of Gertrude Stein's Tender Buttons for its unhinging and re-joining of syntax in a screwy prose poem format, for its re-drawing the intimate and feminized world of the domestic space in such a way as to confuse gendered assumptions and to prioritize and re-value the details, the difficult and joyous work of making home, building ( Read more... )

Nice image! I was just so thrilled to find a similar aesthetic approach in WCW. Makes the literary critic in me long to do a (oh-so-fascinating-for-most-people) history of American experimental prose poems ... Stein, Williams, Ashbery, for example. *nerdy sigh*

At least WCW is somewhat approachable. Stein's minimalism just makes me want to choke her. Or be her houseboy... if Alice would let me. :D
