2008 HP Cons, with a poll

So, Phoenix Rising will be through tomorrow. Obviously, I didn't get to go, nor am I going to Prophecy in August.

That said, let's focus on 2008 HP Cons, shall we?

So far we have Terminus, sponsored by Narrate Conferences that are the ones who did PR. Then we have Portus, sponsored by HPEFTerminus is August 7-11, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois ( Read more... )

I'm not sure if Dallas or Chicago is closer to Florence...probably about the same, lol.

But the fact that Terminus is over my 20th birthday carries much appeal with it.

I'd been thinking about the Chicago one - but considering Chicago's an 11 hour drive from me and Dallas is only three... changes the playing field just a bit, heh.

Well, I'm not planning on driving either way, and with gas prices the way they are...probably just as cheap to fly or travel by rail as to drive.

I still haven't made up my mind whether I'll fly from Muscle Shoals or go to Memphis to catch a train...could combine them, lol and fly to Memphis to catch the train but then it would be cheaper just to fly the whole way...:)

And Chicago is actually closer than Dallas to where I am...487 miles compared to 542 miles...

That's ok. I understand not being able to do that...I remember band trips from high school...lol. Even went to NOLA on one, too....it rained practically the whole time we were down there, or at least...it rained all day the day we were supposed to go to the Zoo, but it didn't rain when we went on our riverboat cruise.

At this point, I simply don't know if I'll do either or both of the cons. A few of my very dear friends are involved with or likely to attend Terminus...other very dear friends are involved with or likely to attend Portus. Makes for hard choices.

We had gorgeous weather. Not a drop of rain and the temperatures were nicely moderate the whole time.

The H/Hr meetup was great. We ended up with 15-16 people and the discussion ranged all over from nostalgia for early fandom days to hopes and fears over the last book to fic writing to just catching up with one another.
