Heh. This doesn't surprise me... people who are very religious and who also are part of the theatre world are amazingly blind to many things. My mom is an evangelical who I assume was vocally supportive of Prop 8 (we don't talk about politics now). She is on the board of the musical theatre in her city and has been for quite some time. A couple of her good friends from the theatre are gay and she is utterly in denial about it. One theatre friend of ours died of AIDS a few years back, and my mother refused to acknowledge that he died of AIDS or that he was gay, because her ideology didn't allow her to mourn for a gay man with AIDS. It was bizarro.
