Nice way to have them both meet before the series. I like what you added in about Don's dad and how Don hates being compared to him and judged by his standard all the time.

Also, for some reason, I always imagined that Don's father and Jess wouldn't get along all that well, at least not initially, probably him being an old fashioned cop and Jess being a woman and Don's partner.

Love them both starting over at the end.
