For Star trek Bigbang, I got to draw for this wonderful plotty story, As Sparks Fly Upward (on dreamwidth), by the delightful jedibuttercup. I made a cover and an illustration for the story. Look at the art and then go read it! (Or you can read it first, but you better come back here! :P ( Read more... )

These are so beautiful! I haven't read the story, so I've no idea what's going on, but I really, really like them.

Thank you so much! It's colored in photoshop via tablet and there are a few layers of colors in there to get the wispy effects for the sky. I'm really glad you liked it :)

Just finished the story and while the art works are amazing in their own right the way they catch the essence of the story makes them incredible!

Backgrounds! <3 *loves* Not to say that I don't love the foregrounds either. (The Enterprise on the top picture is very detailed and shiny, with the little lights.) I like the flowy nebula(?) on top of the star-filled space, and also the texture on the moon. Is it a textured brush being dabbed all over the moon surface? :)

I like the second picture very much as well. It looks very ominious, with all the people in red being herded by the people in black. (Sorry, haven't read the story yet.) I like the perspective of it, how you can't see anyone's expressions at all.

Thank you! Yep, one of those oddly shaped uneven brushes is responsible for the texture on the planet. I don't think any of it is astronomically accurate in any way so it's more like a wispy color effect for prettiness rather than intended to be a nebula or anything, but I'm glad you like it :D
