Summary: Two boys of very different worlds meet each other in a pub. Jinki is the owner of the pub whereas Kibum is an employee there. Their lives changed from then on.
Kibum is an average teenager, living in the city of Korea. He led a rather mundane life with his aunt. His parents passed away when he was five. He didn’t know exactly what happened to them, he only knew that they died of a car accident. He was with them, but he was too young to remember.
He grew up under his aunt’s care. Well, his aunt didn’t really take care of him; she just provided him with the basic necessities, literally. By the age of sixteen, he started working part-time to pay for his education.
When he turned eighteen, he was all on his own. His aunt remarried and moved to another city (but still in Korea) with Kibum’s new acknowledged uncle. They planned everything well but unfortunately; Kibum was not part of their plan.
He was left alone in the apartment that he used to live in with his aunt. The place is all run-down. The furniture is all old and damaged. Holes could be seen on the coffee brown carpet on the ground. The curtains were all dull and dusty. Kibum wished he had the ability to change how the place looks. But based on his current financial status, he could only live with it. In fact, he should be glad enough that he has a roof above his head.

He attended school in Seoul College. He merely scraped through his high school’s finals. Thank goodness for his talent in water-skiing, he got into college pretty easily. He was very well-trained in the sport because his dad was a water-skier.
They used to hang out at the beach in the afternoons during the weekend. His dad and he would go water-skiing while his mom would sit by the wooden bench not too far away from them and simply watch them. After which they just gather and eat by the beach as they watch the sunset as a family. He loved his family, really much. It was just a pity, a really big pity that nothing good lasts long.
On his first few weeks of school, he befriended this guy, Kim Jonghyun. He knew him since he was in kindergarten but they were only acquaintance till now. The process where they got close to each other was pretty eccentric though. But that’s another story to tell.
Jonghyun and Kibum stuck together the entire semester. They’ve been through their up and downs and trusted each other as though they were siblings. They told each other everything and anything. “Secrets” didn’t exist in their dictionary of friendship.

Kibum found it almost impossible to not worry about his life. The figure in his bank account was definitely insufficient to pay for his school fees. If he doesn’t find a job in the next two weeks, he was going to be thrown out of school. His education meant a lot to him (no he didn’t like it, but still, it’s life).
He found it difficult to get a suitable job. Many employers either felt that he was too young and lacked experience or that their timing clashes. Otherwise, the pay was barely enough to pay for his monthly utilities. He really didn’t know what to do. Until that day, of course, when a piece of pink paper flew and landed right in front of his face.
The paper was slightly smudged because it was slightly drizzling where Kibum was (on the streets). But he could still see the contents on the paper which appeared as an advertorial. It was like the God in the heavens heard his silent prayers. “Now hiring: Bartenders. No prior experience required. At least eighteen years of age. Pay is negotiable.”
He decided to go for it. He went for the interview.

He walked into the interview room. The walls were pasted with pieces of elegant print wallpaper. The huge wooden desk placed in the middle of the room adds class to the entire ambience of the environment. A tall sleek man dressed in a set of expensive black suit, accompanied by a branded blue striped tie, was sitting on the seat; apparently waiting to interview Kibum.
Kibum took a few steps forward with a tinge of uncertainty mixed with fear. Nonetheless, he mustered all his courage, pulled the chair back and took his seat.
“Hello. You’re here for the interview, right?”
“Uh, hi. I-I’m Kim Kibum and yeah, as a bartender.”
“Hi, my name is Minho. I’m sent here to interview you by my boss, if you get the job, he’s obviously your boss too. So, tell me, why do you want to get a job? You’re only eighteen.”
“I’m hard up on cash? I live alone right now. I need money to continue my studies. I stumbled upon this flyer.” Kibum answered honestly as he took the piece of crumpled and wet pink paper out from the back pocket of his jeans and placed it on the table.
“There. It flew and landed, right in front of me; I guess I assumed it to be a sign? So I just walked in? I mean, I fit the criteria, don’t I? ”
Minho, who appeared cold and almost looking as though he was pissed, merely nodded. There was a second of silence when Minho glanced down to the application form that Kibum filled in earlier on.
“So, you’ve got no experience?”
Kibum shook his head, lightly.
“Your hobby is…water skiing?”
“Yeah. Is it uh, related to being a bartender?”
“No.”
“Oh. Then uh,” Kibum was cut off, by a rather emotionless Minho.
“Okay Mr. Kim, I will discuss with my boss again. Whether or not you get the job, I will get back to you again within the next few days. Thank you for showing interest.”
And so, Kibum left the nicely decorated interview room.
He’s weird, Kibum thought to himself.

With his hands inserted into his pockets of his pair of jeans, he made his way back to the apartment. He was ready to face the unfair world again, or at least that’s what thought.
Lying in his bed with his iPod plugged into his ears, the music blasted. He shut his eyes, forcibly. Not knowing what tomorrow may possibly bring, he sighed at how much he hated to be alive right now, at the very moment.
Tomorrow (should) always bring better news, right?
