[ FRESH MEAT ]
We've been hearing a lot of complaining about there're always the same people being talked about and praised, and that needing to change. So this month's meme is all about putting on the spotlight those makers that are unknown or not-much-talked-about, but still great or with lots of potential.
Coincidentally (I've been planning this since last week, but, oh well. :P), we've had a really active week at iconpraise, but I hope you didn't get burnt out from that and can still participate. Maybe you even found out some new makers there and want to talk about them! Love is never enough, right?
For the purpose of this meme, we'll be treating as "under the radar" makers who:
- Have less than 100 watchers on their personal icon community
OR
- Have been mentioned AT MOST TWICE on iconpraise, magicawards or likewise communities. Three strikes, you're out.
OR
- Are not called Nia.
Ex: X has 110 watchers but has never been praised anywhere. Praise X!
Y's icons appeared 5 times at iconpraise, but their icon community has 75 watchers. Give Y some attention!
Z has been thrice nominated at magicawards, their community has 150 members. You can't praise Z :( But be happy, Z, you're not unknown at all!
For makers that post both in personal and joint communities, the number of watchers in their personal icon community is the number that counts.
For makers that only post at joint icon communities, the total number of watchers will count for everyone who posts in that community.
This is just to give you a general idea of the kind of people we're looking for. I won't be too strict with these rules, and will trust your good faith when choosing makers to praise, but please use your common sense to judge who REALLY fits the meme.
Go hunting for new makers if need be. You certainly won't regret it! :)
How to:
- Comment the username of the maker you want to praise, the place where they post their graphics, and 5-10 examples of their best work.
- Optional: Tell us what you like about them!
- Comment ANONYMOUSLY when praising. Any non-anonymous comment will be deleted without further notice. You don't need to log out of your account to comment anonymously, just click on "More Options" under the comment text area and check the Anonymous radio button.
We want the focus here to be on the makers, not on anyone being ~super nice for praising them. It's also good for you who's shy to post under your own name. You can even pimp yourself out, if you fit the criteria!
- ONE MAKER PER THREAD, PLEASE.
- Post as many times as you want. :)
- Hotlinking is uncool.
- Be respectful of other's styles and tastes. Remember that "good" and "bad" is mostly your opinion. Be nice!
- Comment on other threads! :D You can do that under your own username.
- LJ has been replacing images left on anon comments by placeholders. There's two ways to circumvent that:
a) Use this code, changing "URL OF IMAGE HERE" for the url of the icon. It's a bit of a scary coding, it's a lame way but it works :P Thanks to deternot and likealight for the help with this.
b) Using the following generator, pasting your urls into the box and clicking "anon edition". Thanks deternot for the link!
