I'm told that a quick zap in the microwave will disable the RFID chip in the new passports if you are the sort to not like such things.

Answer to all of life's problems. Seriously though I would read up on the information on that site. Identity theft is serious business and it is a concern with the newer passports. Good luck.

Thanks Joe! I do have concerns about the RFID and ID theft (especially Kate's identity, since she's a kid and less able to defend herself... it's not like we're checking her credit report or could notice something wonky showing up on a credit card statement to tip us off). I'm not keen to give anyone cause to think Kate's passport has been "altered" and thus trigger the "may be subject to prosecution under Title 18 U.S. Code, Section 1543" stuff. :)
