Hehe, like I said yesterday that was a pretty sweet deal you got on that camera considering the condition it's in :) I look forward to seeing some of pics you take of your portfolio and pics this weekend ^_^

Woah that sounds really cool. I was pondering to get the static 50mm lens as well. Still have problems with the "Rebel" and "EOS Digital" Name mixup. Is this the newest model with 3" Monitor and 12 Mpixels? (That would be Eos 450D)

That would be the equivalent of an XSi here in America. The XTi would be known as the 400D. The standard kit lens is regarded very lowly (Especially among professionals). I would normally recommend against it, only here's the thing ( ... )

That helped a ton, thanks for the input. :D

I was switching between 450D, 400D with and without kit lens for ages and i even pondered about taking a bridge camera since those deliver good pictures and a variety of photography possibilities as of today. But i gave that thought up rather faste because i wanted more variety and choice of lens.

Since the 450D just came out i think the 400D is a good choice (with kit lens) since i'm also (like you) in the midst of learning the materia + i'm not super rich and the current "Canon money refund" thing (about 60 Euro) helps that a lot.

Some good macro focus lens will be my next purchase, since i'm doing those a lot. My photography-prof said that he doesn't like the ultra-zoom lens that much since they tend to make you "stand around too static whilst choosing your picture" and also deliver mediocre quality at the highest zoom positions.

That is quite the nice camera, dear.

I can't wait to see the quality photographs it takes.
