A reintroduction

Livejournal is calling me back. I think I will write in here again. Blogging has moved on and Livejournal has not kept up. Now it's a barren place with little interaction, choked with ads for those who don't pay. It doesn't play nicely with web standards and I find it difficult to search ( Read more... )

Welcome back Joe! Maybe I should stop lurking here and write again or something.

It's good for you to write even for your own sake. I guess that's why diaries exist.

Was it for "Detroit Wild City"? I still haven't seen it!

Yes it was. The director was at the theatre. He did Q&A afterward. He was very nice, and very French.

Hooray! I like reading this sort of thing. I too enjoy that LiveJournal has kind of become a quiet corner of the internet where one can talk at length on the topic of their lives. Especially as my work-related internet presence gets bigger and bigger, I feel that I have fewer and fewer options for "personal" blogging and love that I still have LiveJournal.

I drifted away enough from LJ that I only read Paul's journal for a while and haven't read a "friends page" again yet. Time to see who else still writes.

that's so weird, I've felt like going on livejournal again too. I mean, here I am. I've used this account all of five times in the past four years. Crazy. (This is Josh, Robyn Spengler's boyfriend, in case you forgotted.)

Yeah I'm having the same problem with facebook, too! Plus, people actually complain that I post too often there. So weird.

Sorry to hear about the Stargardt's.... hearing about that makes me feel grateful for my fairly good vision. Yes, thank goodness for the love of music.

That's great that you are into building your fitness and health. Hell, I wish my fetishes improved me, hahaha. It's cool you can be honest about your fetishes too. At the risk of offending someone, I think it might be the next "closet" for people to come out of. I think the general war being waged is against both oppression and shame. I also like that you say "homo" hahaha, you have a sense of humor.

ttyl!

It is a closet, really. Thanks to the work of previous (and current) generations, being gay is now not a big deal in large swaths of the U.S. I think people have stopped immediately picturing anal sex when they hear "gay" and have replaced it with... I don't know, Will and Grace or something.

But as soon as someone says their thing that they're into the sexual imagery comes back and can be intrusive. Also, because fetishes are more bedroom-specifc, there's less reason for everyone to know about them than orientation, which affects the rest of one's life a great deal more than a fetish preference.

I think that this guy going by "Timberwolf" is pretty amazing. If you look at his videos, he does one-armed pullups. Also, he's 42 years old. I guess he's had 25 or 30 years of training, though.

Yeah I don't know as people have to be so very "out & proud" with fetishes, since there isn't nearly the same sort of oppression going on. I definitely feel, especially for myself personally, that defeating shame is a real worthy goal, though. :)
