Claiming Challenges - The 3rd Wave of Ficafest Challenges!

Thank you to everyone who submitted suggestions to the different challenge options! We have lots of challenges so this should be very exciting. :) Rules for this time around are a little bit different since there are 4 different challenge options. There will be no claiming deadline - besides the last day to post, which will be Saturday, June 18, 2005. Each challenge can only be claimed ONCE for a fic and ONCE for artwork. You can only claim challenges for one fic and one artwork at a time. Once you've posted your fic/artwork, you can then claim another challenge to write or draw. If you need to back out of your claim, please let me know asap so that someone else can have the opportunity to claim that challenge.

Since there are no specific NC-17 challenges, any challenge can become NC-17. I also added a new age restriction, which you can find on the user info page. You can comment below in this thread with your birthdate before submitting your NC-17 entry.

Each challenge option has its own claiming directions so please follow the respective directions under that challenge's cut as well as some challenge stipulations. Also, when posting your challenge entry, please make sure your subject line has the Title of your fic or artwork and the Challenge Option category.

I will be doing my best to update the claims (your LJ name will be listed next to the challenge) but just in case, please skim through the comments to make sure your first choice hasn't already been picked. First come, first serve.

The Three Column Prompt Challenge

Suggested by delylah, one column will hold dates, a second column will have a list of locations, and a third column will list objects. After you gave me your suggestions, I shuffled the prompts in their appropriate column and created three long lists.

How to claim as a challenge
From the following lists, choose one prompt under each column (Date/Location/Object). One prompt per person so once it’s claimed for a fic, another person cannot claim it again for a fic unless it’s for art, and vice versa. Each prompt doesn’t need to be the focus of the fic or artwork but it needs to be present in one way or another. **IMPORTANT STIPULATION FOR THE THREE COLUMN CHALLENGE** The only ship in the fic must be Harry/Ginny. Mentions or appearances of Lily/James, Molly/Arthur or already proven ships are allowed, however no Ron/Hermione, Ron/Luna, Draco/Hermione, Neville/Luna, Remus/Sirius, Remus/Tonks, etc…. Just focus on Harry and Ginny.

How to claim as a challenge
Choose ONE quote from either a song, a poem or canon from the list below and also mention if it's for a fic or artwork. Harry could be reflecting upon someone's words from the past, Harry and Ginny could hear Percy singing off-key, or the abstract words of a poem could be the theme of the fic or artwork.

Canon
"You don't know how weird it is for her to be this shy. She never shuts up normally--" Ron Weasley to Harry Potter (CS3)

'Oh, hello, Harry!' said Ron's younger sister, Ginny, brightly. 'I thought I heard your voice.' (OotP4)

'I didn't ask - I didn't want - Voldemort killed my parents!' Harry spluttered. 'I got famous because he murdered my family but couldn't kill me! Who wants to be famous for that? Don't they think I'd rather it'd never -'
'We know, Harry,' said Ginny earnestly. (OotP4)

'Ginny, your hands are filthy, what have you been doing? Go and wash them before dinner, please.'
Ginny grimaced at the others and followed her mother out of the room, leaving Harry alone with Ron and Hermione. (OotP4)

'Fine!' shouted Mrs. Weasley. 'Fine! Ginny - BED!'
Ginny did not go quietly. They could hear her raging and storming at her mother all the way up the stairs, and when she reached the hall Mrs. Blacks ear-splitting shrieks were added to the din. Lupin hurried off to the portrait to restore calm. It was only after he had returned, closing the kitchen door behind him and taking his seat at the table again, that Sirius spoke.
'OK, Harry... what do you want to know?' (OotP5)

'Yeah, size is no guarantee of power,' said George. 'Look at Ginny.'
'What d'you mean?' said Harry.
'You've never been on the receiving end of one of her Bat-Bogey Hexes, have you?' (OotP5)

'Mum and Dad just sent Hedwig back.' The owl fluttered obligingly over and perched on top of her cage. 'Are you ready yet?'
'Nearly. Is Ginny all right?' Harry asked, shoving on his glasses. (OotP10)\
[claimed as fic by sue_bridehead]

Harry and Ginny became separated as they moved off along the platform and out through the station. (OotP10)
[claimed as fic by gilyann]

'Because she'll never be as good as Hagrid,' said Harry firmly, fully aware that he had just experienced an exemplary Care of Magical Creatures lesson and was thoroughly annoyed about it.
The door of the nearest greenhouse opened and some fourth-years spilled out of it, including Ginny.
'Hi,' she said brightly as she passed. (OotP13)
[claimed as fic by beedaily]

'Ginny used to fancy Harry, but she gave up on him months ago. Not that she doesn't like you, of course,' she added kindly to Harry while she examined a long black and gold quill.
Harry, whose head was still full of Cho's parting wave, did not find this subject quite as interesting as Ron, who was positively quivering with indignation, but it did bring something home to him that until now he had not really registered.
'So that's why she talks now?' he asked Hermione. 'She never used to talk in front of me.' (OotP16)

She dived under the table to retrieve the bowl and emerged with her face glowing like the setting sun. (Chamber of Secrets, UK adult cover page 51)

Dumbledore: "Ah music," he said wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here!" (SS, US softcover, page 128)

He summoned the happiest thought he could, concentrated with all his might on the thought of getting out of the maze and celebrating with Ron and Hermione, raised his wand, and cried, "Expecto Patronum!" (GoF, chapter 31, US hardcover p 623)

He had no memory of ever being hugged like this, as though by a mother. (GoF, chapter 36, US hardcover p 714)

"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory." (GoF, chapter 37, US hardcover p 724)

It was Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister, but she wasn't pointing at Ron.
"Harry Potter!" she squealed. "Look, Mom! I can see-" (SS, chapter 17, US hardcover p 308)

"Wonder what they'll give us next year?" said Seamus Finnigan gloomily.
"Maybe a vampire," suggested Dean Thomas hopefully. (PoA, chapter 22, US hardcover p 429)

Where Shalt Thou Go With This Paragraph Challenge

Suggested by elsa241967, there'll be one introductory paragraph and from there, the writers can go in whatever direction pleases them.

How to claim as a challenge
Comment below that you’ll be writing for the Paragraph Challenge. That easy. ;) Your first paragraph MUST be this paragraph, but from there, you can go anywhere you want.
**IMPORTANT STIPULATION FOR THE PARAGRAPH CHALLENGE** The only ship in the fic must be Harry/Ginny.

Paragraph
Harry hopped out of bed, a piece of parchment held tightly in his hand. He made his way to the window and took in a deep breath. He always loved the morning after a summer storm; everything seemed so fresh and clean. He could hear the Dursleys moving around the house, but not even being stuck in Privet Drive to gain his mother's protection could take away from his good mood. In a few days he would be gone, back to the Burrow where he rightly belonged.

Again, thank you to everyone who commented with their suggestions. *hugs* Also, it TRULY helped that you followed the format because when I compiled the list of challenges, I didn't go completely crazy. I copied and pasted most of the challenge suggestions without really paying attention so if there's an error somewhere or I pasted something more than once, please let me know so I can fix it. *taps chin* Making a Master List for these challenges will be quite *ahem* challenging.

Please help spread the word to your friends, writers, artists, and HP readers. Thank you!
