What an interesting new trope you've just invented here - thestrals becoming invisible again once one accepts death as a natural part of life! Brilliant! I loved Minerva's voice here, too, her gentleness comes through there as she watches the student. Nicely done!

Thank you so much! I had a moment of "what if..." and I think it can be certainly taken in several ways. I really do like the thestrals and feel like there's a lot that can be explored around why they can be seen/not seen.

I've written a bunch of post-war stuff but this was the first time that I sort of said "ouch" even to myself. :/

Thank you so much for this marvelous story! Certainly many more people would see thestrals after the war, and they would be frightening to some.

Fortunately for Sybill, denial is a powerful force. This is a fascinating idea that can indeed be interpreted more than one way.

That testifies to how good this story is.

Many thanks,
L

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked it! ♥

The idea of more people seeing thestrals after the war seemed obvious but then I was struck by the denial and what would happen with that. I do also like writing in ways that allow for various interpretations, so I very much appreciate the feedback!

Oh yes, Sybill is a character that is open to a lot of interpretation....; I love how you have Minerva realize that she forgot to consider her feelings ;-).

Thank you! I feel like Minerva and Sybill have been through some trying times, but Minerva's empathy always pulls through and I wanted to write something that evoked sympathy for Sybill as well.
