She'd been up late, the night before, wrapping all the presents she hadn't gotten started on before, and now there was a small pile in their rooms - for Victor and Chives - and Zoe had a shopping tote full of presents for everyone else in one hand. A few had been handed out already, but for the last few minutes Zoe had been paused in front of the

"Disappointed you've not made the cut, changeling?"

"I suppose most people don't think I could be creativve enough for it. Should I stand on my head more? Shoot flaming arrows?" Have a cookie, Cynric.

"I'd recommend it." He needs a moment to munch contentedly before continuing. "Also hopping out of trees. People tend to not get used to it, amazingly enough."
After literally years of being surprised by it.

"I did that to Victor once." Amazingly, he had not drawn a knife - that had been a few weeks later during another less than wise moment in impulsive teenagerdom. "Speaking of," she adds, nodding at the list, "are you worried about the competition?"
Cynric is, after all, the entirely unsurprising name on that list.

"Been looking for you all over, darling. Happy Christmas." The sentence is accompanied by a hug, which gives her her first look at that notice board and the paper on it. When she pulls back, the joy in her eyes has been tempered by a good bit of dismay.
"Not that I don't want to see you there, but please tell me you two aren't going. If he's chosen he'll outlaw fun for the entire night."

"Happy Christmas," she echoed, before looking back at the notice board. "I haven't mentioned it to him, and he doesn't like parties." The understatement of the century right there, though to be fair - there've been so many parties this year that Zoe's a bit weary of them herself, and that's not counting the clutch of smaller ones she's got invitations to for the holidays.
"But still. If he did get elected...well, I have a feeling it'd be like you said, or the terrifying opposite." "I know I'm going, I'm just still not sure if it's with anyone or just to attend. It's been a busy few months, hasn't it? Things happening all over the place. I've managed to get measurements from your bridesmaids, by the by; we'll have to talk sometime after the holidays so you can work out the final designs. How are arrangements going with Chives?"

"You wouldn't have any trouble finding a date if you wanted one." Eden never did; Zoe had been in awe until she'd stumbled headfirst into her first real relationship herself. "They're...going fine," she said. "We've picked a room for the reception. It's small, but...I wanted a sort of cozy pub feel, and I think Chives wouldn't have ever forgiven me for holding it in a pub." She nibbled on her lip, then. "We haven't scheduled the church yet, though. Victor and I...have to discuss that."
