You definitely made a lot of good points about Blythe. I certainly see her now as a different character than what I viewed her as back in "Birthmarks" and in Season 2
One thing that hasn't changed though is, and I could be wrong, but I sort of see her as the type of mother that just sweeps things under the rug, acting as though everything is fine. Hers is a generation that values keeping up appearances, and I think that's what was emphasized her in this episode. I think that's why she sort of brushed off the conflicts between House and his father the two times we saw her prior to this episode. I think that's why she didn't visit House in prison. I think she loves and cares for House, but visiting him prison might have made it all too real for her. (Once again, I could be wrong.)
On the bright side, this now provides much fanfic fodder. ;)

LOL! Msybe Blythe auditioned a lot of potential lovers until she found ones with just the right birthmark on their penis? I love it!
I always saw her as the type of mother who swept everything under the rug. Certainly she gave off that appearance in Birthmarks - what with telling House 'the war is over' and urging him to give a eulogy (which I always thought was a ridiculous move on her part, does she not know he hates his father? Does she not know he tells the truth?) I found that the Blythe they painted in this episode didn't gel with that, which is why I had problems with it.
If Blythe is the 'keeping up appearances' type, I just have trouble reconciling that with the many lovers while married, doing drugs, protesting the war, checking the police blotter every day, Blythe they show us here. If she cares enough to protest a war would she ignore the abuse happening in her house? Maybe, but I just can't buy it.

Either way, I'd love to read fic about her.
Absolutely! I just hope that people do watch it eventually and we get some good fic out of it. I'm annoyed that out of all the episodes to be pre-empted for three weeks this was the one...
Exactly! I felt this was the most House focused episode we've had in awhile!

Is it okay with you if I take that idea and write a silly ficlet about it?
