I think I know who this character is based on, and if so, the story this episode/ongoing plot-line will presumably relate to. If I am right, then I am very excited. This is one of my favorite stories, and I would love to see how it would be adapted for this series.

Oooh, yes, he does look perfect for that role.

And yes yes yes, me too, I'd love to see this storyline! (Especially the hand-holding part behind the curtain!)

Yep. That would certainly be a bonus.

But mostly it's the blackmail aspect of the plot that has me interested. What if the victim of the blackmail in this adaptation could be Sherlock himself? Or John? Or Molly, or some other important character? What would it be regarding?

Yes yes, this. I think if Milverton were blackmailing a canon character Sherlock already loves, that would give him great incentive to hate him and want to take him down.

And you know how in the original story, this kickass woman comes and shoots him? What if that were Mary being blackmailed? With Sherlock and John looking on in awe? That would give a cool backstory to Mary and show that she likes to help out on cases and has the same level of morality as John--i.e. it's okay to kill bad people.

Exactly. What if it was Mrs Hudson? It has already been stated at con-events that we are going to 'learn a little more' about Mrs Hudson in this series, and with the whole alluded to circumstances regarding her husbands execution, it's quite possible that she has a few murky skeletons in her closet - skeletons that Sherlock may be aware of, but which Mrs Hudson is unwilling to share with the wider public.
