She had taken the bandages off just for this. The gaping wounds on her left cheek and the horrific gash on the side of her left head were the most noticeable thing about Louvika Hawkins right now, next to the black shirt which blared the words, in shimmering red letter, WHY DON'T YOU REGISTER ME TOO, MR. MALFOY, accompanied by the waving photograph of a handsome woman with long blonde curls-- her mother
( ... )
Chen was full with the most energy he'd ever felt in ages. He was certainly proud to be a part of the protest, and he'd been standing there for quite some time with the rest of Dumbledore's Army. His choice of garb was simple enough: skinny jeans and an appropriate t-shirt--the words 'Fight For Your Rights' on it.
That's what the Ministry needed to know! Muggleborns had rights just like any other witch or wizard. This 'registration' could NOT happen!
Chen held up a picket sign with a crossed-out 'registration' written on it, and he stood proudly next to Lou and Darren.
"Don't be pushed around by the Ministry!" he called in his not-too-loud voice. "NO ON MUGGLEBORN REGISTRATION!!"
"NO ON MUGGLEBORN REGISTRATION," Aleesha practically screamed, as she shot a spell on Chen's sign. The big cross through 'registration' disappeared briefly, only to come back animated, so it viciously tore through the word.
They had a decent crowd watching. After breakfast some of the students had wandered to class, growing bored of the commotion the DA were making. But some remained and some returned, having had their classes cancelled because the teachers were too busy keeping the protestors under control. Or attempting to, anyway.
Leesh gave Chen a friendly pat on the behind, her way of telling him she was proud of what he was doing. Of what they were all doing. She hoped it made it difference.
Ellie stood next to Darren, a stern scowl upon her face as she thought about the atrocious idea of Muggleborn registration. What kind of imbecile came up with that plan?
She was so proud of Dumbledore's Army for sticking it to the Ministry. Hell, even the other random students who had decided to join the protest as well. As they came, Ellie would give them a sign, or a sticker, or a pin, just for the hell of it. If they wanted their protest to get anywhere, they would have to look tidy and together. Which was exactly what they were doing.
Ellie smiled dearly at the students from DA who had chosen to show up for the protest before going back to her shouts.
"NO ON MUGGLEBORN REGISTRATION! NO ON MUGGLEBORN REGISTRATION!" she screamed, clenching her hands into tight fists. Oh, her voice was going to be so shot after this... But what did THAT matter? This cause was worth it!
