Several very fine owls go to the following recipients, each one carrying a thick, gilt-edged invitation:

Happy birthday, lad! I'll certainly be there. How could I miss the birthday of such an enterprising pupil? Should I bring anything in honor of the occasion, my boy?

Of course darling, I would not miss it for anything. I will bring your present for you then.

As for bringing a guest, I would not begin to know of anyone I would want to attend with me, as I have not become social with any of my colleagues at all yet. Perhaps you might simply include Godric Gryffindor on your list if you have not, he has been quite helpful to me. Should I think of anyone else, I will let you know.

Thanks for the invite, way to give a guy notice for gift giving! I've got something I must attend at nine, but I'll be more than happy to stop in for two hours or so.
