"You look tired," A observed softly.

"I'm a little bit worn-out, yes. It's been a very strange few hours." He smiled at the boy. He looked about the same age as himself and Vanyel, thin, and shy. But he seemed nice enough.
"I'm Tylendel," he offered.

"But I've, but, Vanyel mentioned you." Tylendel couldn't be a common name, could it?

And, A knew, he and Tylendel had at least one thing in common.

"I have spoken to Vanyel a few times. He visited my greenhouse."

the boy's apparent confusion gave him pause, but he smiled and patted Vanyel's head; he had fallen asleep in his lap.

"I'm glad; he's shy when he isn't being arrogant," he joked.

He'd been tooling around the hallways again, for lack of anything else interesting to do. He'd noticed Vanyel booking it to the sorting room earlier, and hadn't paid it any mind at the time, but he was still bored out of his skull, so to the sorting room he went.

Needless to say, he was surprised to see his new pet friend passed out in the arms of the New Kid.

"My," he said, by way of greeting, "he sure got over his shyness quick." He hadn't meant for it to sound that biting, but there was that tiny tug of jealousy that his one acquaintance outside of tactical planning was with someone else, and he still had a Vanyel-induced migraine.

Tylendel instantly bristled at the newcomer. He had that imperious feel about him, like someone who constantly looked down on the rest of the world.
"I wasn't aware," he said back, his tone quite clipped and cold, "that Vanyel was supposed to be shy around me." He glared icily at this man - he already didn't like him. Unlike everyone else here, he seemed... sinister. Even more sinister than the fish-man-thing. He tried to sit up a little straighter, only succeeding in jostling Vanyel around a little, and settled back, glaring sullenly.

Vanyel stirred sleepily in Tylendel's lap. "Mmm?" he said, without opening his eyes, or really even waking up.

"He's cute when he sleeps," Kurama remarked, giving the New Kid a look. Sure, it was mean, and sure, he wasn't really justified for it, but right now he was just frayed enough not to care. "...Just like a little cat." he crouched in front of them, balancing on the balls of his feet, and reached out to Vanyel, as if to pet him.

Given the number of students who have been arriving in need of aid, Kusuriyuri decides it would probably be wise to check the sorting room more frequently. He is surprised to see Vanyel in the room, especially so close to someone else. He approaches them quietly and bows. "This is our first meeting," he murmurs softly as he kneels before them.

Tylendel looked uneasily at this new man, with his strange clothes and markings he seemed closer to the fish-man-thing than anyone else, but he was calm, and more importantly, polite.
He bowed back, the most courtly he could manage from his sitting position.
"I am Herald-Trainee Tylendel, honored at your acquaintance."

"I am called Kusuriyuri," he replies. He is pleased with the boy's politeness, refreshing to see. "Is all well?" Given the state that Vanyel had arrived in, and that he was with this boy, he felt it was a valid question.

"Ah! Van mentioned you. Yes, everything is all well." He smiled brightly.

"Companion's Bell? We have a Companion somewhere around here!" the Hat chirped. "Pretty lady, does business out of a spaceship!"

It meant Inara Serra.

He had the distinct feeling that Hat wasn't talking about his kind of companion.
"Ah, alas, our companions don't have... 'spaceships' readily available. Business is usually conducted on the road."
Oh, shit, that could be taken a whole bunch of different ways...

The Hat giggled. "Giving new meaning to roadside assistance!" The Hat now knew some things about cars, thanks to various bribes it had received over the years (mostly rides in fast futuristic vehicles, granted). "Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, squire!"

"R-right, say no more," he agreed, realizing that the hat had taken it exactly the way he hadn't wanted it to.
"So, um... Are you here to vote me in, too?" He hoped the question was firmly in innocent territory enough.
