Application: Jeanne Fránçaix - The Super Dimensional Cavalry: Southern Cross

Apr 30, 2007 13:15

A feminine looking, white and red armoured figure walked into the hall clutching a rifle. After briefly surveying the hall, they decided it seemed safe enough and slung the gun over their back and removed their helmet.

A lady in her late teens stood there looking dumbfounded.

“Where is this?”

Well, sure beats being in confinement. )

application, jeanne francaix

Sundaes? You're on. Got a House preference?

"Huh, house preference?" Jeanne shook her head.
"Wait, first could you explain why there's a castle here? It's not on the maps I have and they're only a few weeks old at best."

Something else bugged her.

"And why are you even here? Only patrols are allowed in this area.”

Um. I think it's a safe bet you're not where you think you are. People kind of appear in this room from wherever they were before.

This castle's called Hogwarts, and it's in Scotland. Same area?

"Scotland?" She looked puzzled.
"Where's Scotland?"

Again, she shook her head.

"But I took the old forest road. Went straight into the forest and exited near the castle... Look, stop this joke now, it isn't funny at all."

Excuse me? I wouldn't mind teasing you, lady, but I don't even know you!

"Second lieutenant Jeanne Fránçaix of the Tactics Armoured Corps. And you are?"

Charles. Not your Charles, I guess. Charles Macaulay. Pleased to meet you, Lieutenant.

"Same to you" She said with a wink.

"Charles de Etouard is a private under my command. Knowing him though, I wouldn't put the application past him.
Don't suppose you have any idea about all this then?" She pointed back at the application.

Which War are you speaking of, Miss?

"You’re kidding me right? It only ended a week ago. The Zor war?" She paused, a sudden thought going through her head.

She continued, somewhat more empathetic then before.
"Are you a Bio-human? Do you need help at all?"

sidney_reilly April 30 2007, 05:16:26 UTC
That...is not a war I am familiar with. I was brought here from the past. The last war I was present for was World War I.

...Bio-human? Is there any other kind?

crux_austrina April 30 2007, 05:32:18 UTC
"World war one?" She didn't have a clue.
"I guess you're not one then. Bio-humans are people that were captured by the Zor to pilot the early stage Bioroids."

"Hmm, so you're from the past then? What date?" She clearly didn't believe him but considering everyone else so far, seems tall stories are the pick of the day.

"What kind of unarmed combat, specifically?" Chance might be interested, but only if it's something practical. No mystical tai-chi kung-fu mumbo jumbo.

"Standard Southern Cross Corps style. Mostly punches, kicks and throws. Been enough to get me out of quite a few tough spots during the war and even the odd bar-room scuffle here and there. You interested?"

"Maybe. Never heard of the Southern Cross Corps." Ku Klux Klan?

"Glorie's military force. And you haven’t heard of it? Wait, are you going to suddenly say we're on Earth also?"

Jeanne sighed.

"Honestly, what kind of stunt are you all trying to pull here?"

You could say this was not one of Bothari's good days. He came into the sorting room, rubbed his temples hard, as if there was some monstrously hideous thing inside his head needing to get out. Then he read over the application, and some of the tension left his body for a brief moment. Military, he understood. He'd been missing the military, and this woman was a lieutennant, so she outranked him.

He approached, gave her a crisp salute and barked out, "Sergeant Konstantin Bothari, reporting for duty, ma'am."

She returned the salute, a smile tugging at her lips.

"What division are you from Sergeant?"

"Used to be in Barayaran imperial military, ma'am," Bothari said, still standing at attention. "Then I served as man-at-arms to Count Pyotor Vorkosigan... And now I'm here." As explanations went, that one didn't exactly pass muster for him, but it was the best he could do.

"I'm sorry, I don't know about the Barayaran imperial military. That would mean you don't need to salute me or anything. Although I don't suppose you've heard of the Southern Cross Corps at all?"

"Sorry, second Lieutenant Jeanne Fránçaix of A. Tactics Armoured Corps, squadron fifteen. err... Heroine of the Zor war. How about you, Sergeant? Have you ever seen active duty?"
