Halloween

So, I want to be Aretha's Hat for Halloween. I already have the gray/silver clothing, but I need a fabric and reinforcement method for a giant 3-foot bedazzled bow.
Any cosplayers out there with some ideas?

ok, ok, i know i am a total lurker on yr journal, but i just have to say that this is the best idea evarrrrrr.

seriously. brilliant!!

[&, ummmm. all i can think is felt sewn around a wire-frame kind of thing, but that might not get you the right kind of depth. good luck with it, though!]

I have no advice whatsoever, but I have to declare that you are the best person in the world. Pictures are going to be necessary!

Very study interfacing. :) Look up how to make ribbon bows, interface the shit out of some grey cloth, and go wild on a large scale.

Now I just need to figure out where to buy fabric and how to get my hands on a sewing machine. Oh man. :(

You should try buckram its the kind on interfacing that is used to make hats and the bottom of purses. I've worked with it before and as long as you make sure the use fabric that the buckram won't poke through or put in a cover layer it's great.

In a farbic store it should be with the interfaceings, but if the store has a hat making section it could be there.

Another option is horse hair intertfacing (made with real hair) but that is not very common and kind of expensive, I've never used it so I can't say how good it is.
