Do you still mind OOC-ness when it's in the name of kink? xD anonymous February 21 2011, 20:40:11 UTC
I know there was something similar to this in the old Discussion Post, but I have to ask here anyway...

If a fic mainly centers on the kink (be it shota, or BDSM, or whatever), how willing are you to read the OOC-ness? Do you mind it as much, knowing the situation is different from what the characters are usually in, or is it still a no-no because there are several good fics out there with characters very well written and kink still present?

(I'm asking 'cuz I'm currently writing some shota, and I know that I'm very OOC with the adult of the pairing. xD)

Yes, I still mind. I like to read Hetalia fanfic, that is, fanfic about the characters as they appear in Hetalia. So, if the character is really OOC and I can not recognise them, I'll stop reading.

Sorry, anon.

Can you explain us more about the fill? Maybe we can help you.

I understand what you mean, so thank you. ;)

And. . .
I'm not gonna go that much into detail because I do plan on making a lot of edits, but if you could still help, I'd love you forever.

Sorry if you're not a fan of this, but I'm writing something with shota. To me, it's hard to make the characters as IC as possible just because I know that it's not how the characters do react in these situations.
I'm thinking of going back and adding a lot of character traits that make the character himself (so as to not give everything away, I mean like making Spain more oblivious or France more perverted or Italy a bit more cheerful), but it's probably not enough.

In a situation like this, what's the best way of making a character in-character?

I think you should try to find a reasoning of why Spain or France or anyone else would have sex with a kid. How old is the kid? Because there's s difference between the kid being 5 and being 14. Also, is this present or past time? Is this love or lust? What's the relationship between them? What's their relationship in canon? All those things help me when I try to write.

Does it make sense?

Can you at least set a subject? I think we should have some standards even when we wank. I like orderly anon memes, makes it easier for people who are using flat view.

What do you like to see in smut? anonymous February 21 2011, 22:06:35 UTC
Like, what words/phrases always get you? (What words would you hate to see?) Do you like seeing a lot of description? Is it better to focus more on the feelings rather than the actions? What's too cliche?

what words/phrases always get you?

Any mention to sounds, especially the flesh-to-flesh kind. Pants, grunts, moans, whimpers, slaps, pops, groans, the more obscene the better. I also like drooling from too much sensation. Any mention to a character's youth is...UNF. And words about the tightness felt after penetration, and words that leave it ambiguous if the character is feeling pain, pleasure, or both.

What words would you hate to see?

Butt and pussy. They make me snort. WRITING IN CAPS WHAT SOMEONE SAYS WHILE COMING. A character repeating the other's name constantly bad Bleach feelings. Some characters keening make me backbutton quickly.

Do you like seeing a lot of description?

Yes, especially of the sensual kind. But I prefer good dialogue (fluffy or snarky, teasing or sensual) over it

Is it better to focus more on the feelings rather than the actions?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! >.<
I hate it. Unfortunately, it's the most common practise.

What's too cliche? Both characters coming at the same time (also improbable as hell). Sex ( ... )

I like detailed descriptions of sounds, feel, smell and taste. I like rough, panting, headboard slamming sex. Detailed blowjobs. Pubic hair and non-circumcised penises. I like rimming, felching, intercrural, masrurbation, fingering, using toys, roleplay and begging. I hate ukes and semes, virginity in 99% of the characters and characters being OOC.

I love description that makes me see and feel what the characters are seeing and feeling, rather than being told that "he did that and he responded by doing that and he moaned and it felt good." The sensory description, as long as it doesn't wax too poetic, is what REALLY gets me, no matter what is happening. Honestly I will read ANYTHING as long as the description hits the right buttons--and if it hits it well enough, I might even jump kink ( ... )

Looking for some writing help anonymous February 21 2011, 23:59:25 UTC
This Anon is writing a fill with Prussia and France as traumatized nations, where one abused the other in the past. My problem is that I'm wanting to get a level of trust back between the two and I'm not sure how to do that without it seeming well, all Magical Power of Teh Healing Cocks.

Is there any Anons out there who has some advice on writing recovery from abuse/trauma?

Take it very very slowly. Baby steps. It's going to be HELLA awkward, especially the first few times they are around each other. There's going to be anger and/or fear from the abused one. The abuser may have anger/guilt/etc. That has to be palpable and it has to impede any kind of fast progress.

There has to be a willingness on both sides at the same time, to regain that trust between them, otherwise they'd give up the first time.

PLEASE DON'T BRING IN HEALING COCKS

I second the anon above. Two steps forward one step back is a perfectly legitimate pace for this type of fic - they don't have to progress in a straight line.

Ok.

So it'd be slow going and carefully with a lot of minefields. Would it be ok to not write out every detail, like say, every chapter be a few months, or years further along, or would it be better to show everything?

Indexes you want? anonymous February 22 2011, 03:24:14 UTC
I would really like to see a France/Spain or/and Spain/England index.

What indexes would you like to see?

If it helps, I'm doing an England index (I've already indexed 10 parts, I have 7 more to go), if you want to check the England/Spain tag: http://www.delicious.com/england_kindex/p:England/Spain

Also, I know someone is making a France index, that might help, too.
