Why This Must Be Read: Part of the Magnetic verse I'm only reccing this part and out of this part only the first two parts, which are the actual story, part three is an epilogue, and the rest of the series turns into Pepper/Tony/Steve, which I know not everyone is here for. (The series itself is well written and fair to all those involved, however ~stony~.) But to the point! One of the best pre-movie canon stories about Pepper and the path her life took the day she decided to go to the 1996 NY Tech Summit. The fic spans all of Pepper's years working in Stark Industries and for Tony building up their relationship so well and subtly and painfully because a lot of shit happens and Tony is Tony. I like how it centres on Pepper and shows her having a life, interests, and relationships outside Tony. (And while they do get wrapped up in each other's lives Pepper always tries to stay grounded, as hard as that is. Tony is mess and doesn't like to share. Pepper is overprotective and with good reason.) And even knowing the end up together this was a good journey to see her on.

Why This Must Be Read: This looks like a cheat because not many consider Volstagg a main character but this fic is really about the ream of Darcy, Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three and how they learn to work together again after being sent away on an accidental adventure. The "endgame" ship is Darcy/Loki, and really they spend most of the fic circling each other, but I really loved Siún and Volstagg's romance quiet a lot.
