WSJ, you are unreal. and not in a good way: "In Defense of the Western Mom", Ayelet Waldman's response (significantly less ragetastic) to Amy Chua's bullshit excerpt of bullshit. which is still the most popular article in the Asia section ( Read more... )

that would make my month. possibly my life. (also, lol. because i am contemplating, like, three different ideas and wondering if there's a way to merge them all into one ridiculous prompt. except i have a feeling it would put you off doing fic offers for the rest of time. so. reconsidering, definitely. xD)

and yes, i should probably do that. haha.

I haven't read that many Mal centric fics. Here are some that I remember reading and enjoyed very much. ;)

Don't know if you've read it already, but you could try this:

Go Where the Lights Turn Dark by ivynights http://ivynights.livejournal.com/32184.html It's a Mal backstory, and it's short but beautiful.

or:

No Fortress against Her Remains by jibrailis
http://jibrailis.livejournal.com/35565.html

Really heart the Mal/Arthur moments :)

Btw, your coworkers sound really amusing xD and well, the hysteria appears to be very much contagious.

augh, you are wonderful. <3 BACKSTORIES. YES. and while i have yet to read M/A, because the idea of it is hard for my head to wrap around, i will give it a try. :)

ahaha, it's especially amusing because they're all high-level managers. i just laugh and laugh at their ridiculous antics. outside of the office (in their respective factories), they put on the STERN & ANGRY MANAGER FACE, which makes their people shake with fear. and i'm all, omg they're just teddy bears inside, don't you know??

[edit: WAIT A MINUTE. I PROMISED GIFTS. WHAT DO YOU WANT?]

(I don't remember it being heavy A/M, more like friendship/platonic thingy. But I could be wrong. I liked that piece, that I do remember.)

Strictly speaking it's not really Mal/Arthur, but more like a story which throws them together with a lovely result. it's kind of bittersweet and breathtaking at once.

I totes wish I could see that LOL I'm sure the contrast is absolutely priceless. Also, iPads? I am jealous. Even though it's for office work, but still... :P

Er... :scratches head: I... don't know? LOL.

Oh dear, those two articles. My face has been plastered into this expression: O_o

Ahahaha, I know the feeling of inaccessible e-mail WHYYYYY. That's what I kind of miss about working, tbh.

lol, that was my initial expression, but it has long turned to =___=.

ahaha, you miss flailing while working? (or, in my case, pretending to work.)

I am kind of laughing, actually! I am Filipino, so I'm slightly more familiar with how Chinese mothers are but those articles. I am just. Ahahaaaa. Oh god. What is this, internet. WHAT IS GOING ON.

Yes, I confess. Yes very much. Especially when the Operations Manager walks up to me and goes, "HEY DAN, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO AN IMPROMPTU REFRESHER COURSE FOR THE AGENTS? cause like, our internet is down and we have nothing to do for this 9 hours." Kind of beats being a bum at home.

AT WSJ, OF ALL PLACES. WUT. and i kind of wished Ayelet went all motherfucking out, so this would be more entertaining of a shitstorm. but no. she's just all, "A~my, i get you but not really. be niiiice. kthx." what kills me more is that Amy is a Yale Law prof. ahahahaha. Amy, don't lie. you are a Twinkie, like all ABCs. EMBRACE IT.

lol, i totally empathize. most days, i wish there were more flaily things going on just so i have an excuse to do something. rather than just refreshing my email and waiting for an assignment. am thinking of transferring to a more high-stress area, because i am pretty much like a bum at the moment. a paid bum.

(Or maybe Amy should get it on with Ayelet? So they can argue some more over which gifts are suitable for Hanukkah and the importance of classical music, the romantics in particular, to the developing brain.)

WHO DOESN'T LOVE CANADIANS? \O/! even when my Canadian friends lecture me about how organic food > everything else, i just get this huge smile on my face. and cram more Cheeto puffs in my mouth.

IT IS. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. BUT I LIKE IT.
