Housekeeping Note: The Towns

Apr 08, 2013 17:01

Still need to be done. I am working on it, I swear. I just need to come up with a list of places the kids from each school hang out at as well as other places around town.

If anyone has any ideas...drop me a comment.

Well, two things, 1) the DC town should have it's own Coffee Bean, just so they can argue about their's being the better one. 2) I feel like there would be some hangouts(either actual places or places that get nicknamed as such) that have names based on places from the comics, not sure what, but I think the combined knowledge of the people here can come up with some good places.

Oh it definitely has its own Coffee Bean.

Yes. This. Harry's and The Grindstone are taken directly from X-Men. And Moondance has a connection to Daredevil. But if anyone can think of others, I will definitely add them. For the DC side, I totally want to get Arkham and the Clocktower in there somewhere.

I was thinking for this maybe "The Asylum", which I think would probably be more of a place's nickname than it's actual name, because it's the place 'all the mad people go to' or something like that, and I may need to double check this, I was thinking more the Hall and the Tower. I'm not certain if it's like this in the comics, only because I may be a liiiittle behind, but I know at least on "Young Justice" they had the Hall of Justice, which was the public front, and then they had the Watchtower which was the private base that only those who knew about it would be allowed to. I could see them having a place they like to go to that everyone knows about, but then the secret little clubhouse you only get int upon invitation.

Of course, the Mavel people(or at least the Avengers) should have the Mansion or the Carrier or someplace equal that only those in the know would get to go to.

What is Arkham was an internet cafe type place? A place to go and plot dastardly deeds and to cause some cyber trouble anonymously. They've got to eventually pick up a hacker or two along the way. Hell, being something like that, it could even be called the Asylum. Cyber cafes always have weird titles.

I know Birds of Prey has the Clocktower. Where Oracle is.

I should not want there to be a club or something made from a converted Helicarrier. That would be wrong. BUT ALL KINDS OF AWESOME.

I've been debating over whether Marvel and DC have any sort of organised crime - a Wilson Fisk or two as it were.

Also I can see several Industries are based in competition to each other in the towns - Howard's STARK Industries, OSCORP, Thomas's Wayne Enterprises and maybe Queen Industries? I've also wondered how people from realms like Asgard might be handled, possibly there's some kind of pub for Asgardian types like Sif or the Warriors Three to frequent.

Lastly I was thinking if there was a Mayor in the two towns? I've previously suggested Jonah Jameson for Marvel, but I thought of Mayor Sharp (from Arkham Asylum/City) for DC? Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hope you don't mind me voicing some opinions on this(I seem to be doing that a lot here).

Right now, I get the feeling crime would be like how it was on "Fillmore!", not the actual versions, but high school imitations of them, mascot-napping instead of kidnapping, stink bombs instead of real ones, etc.

I can see that, as for the Asgardians, it would probably be the same way we'd need to handle aliens. Not so much alien to the planet as much as alien to the town or country. That being said, I've probably read too much Dresden Files, because I imagine Odin running a security company.

As for mayors.... Not sure, so many choices. I'd suggest Luthor, but I see him being one of those school bullies who'd be less about actually hurting people directly, and more about manipulating things to get what he wanted and using people.

Dresden Files <3333

Yeah. I definitely see Luthor being more on the high school level.

And funny you should mention mascot napping...cause it's coming...

Oh, if Natasha and her boys do that, bad things are going to happen. Harley already suggested Hal help her with pranking them, and the only thing holding him back was because they did nothing to deserve it.
