Last summer I grew tomatoes, chillies and peppers on the windowsill. The tomatoes were especially good. They were much more textured and flavoursome than Tesco's. The chillies came in abundance and I still have some in the freezer. They were mild, so far as chillies go. Unfortunately the plants did not last the winter. How absolutely lovely. Your encouragement and minute attention to detail shall surely yield bountiful harvests. One can imagine that, given your occupational need for taking copious notes, in your off time you'd want the things to grow and note themselves, to tell you precisely what they need to become the very best they can be. But your way is to provide love and attention, and I look forward to seeing the tasty rewards you'll reap from this good work.

You almost make me sound meticulous! I am living in hope that my enthusiasm will sustain diary-keeping, for in this inaugural year I reckon there will be a fair bit of guess-work going on in my garden. I don't expect to get things right first time, but at least I might learn from the things that do work, and the things that do not.

Surely some things will come good, and you can expect pictures and bravado when they do. Meanwhile, I'll keep you posted as to how things are going.
