Oh, my. Is it Christmas already?

*brushes the dust from the LJ*

Ahem. I seem to have been neglecting things around here.  This whole "graduate school" thing has turned out to be a little bit all-consuming.  :P  I have not, however, been neglecting my fannish duties. After Jewish Christmas dinner (aka Chinese takeout), I got in bed with my laptop and watched The Next Doctor.

It was pretty awesome. )

DM and DT have such great chemistry that I was expecting them to be brilliant together, but yes, they were heartbreaking as well. I'm so glad Jackson insisted at the end. I like to think of the Doctor enjoying a meal with new friends rather than swanning off on his own at the end of the episode.

Rosita's disposition--if I'm reading it correctly, she was a prostitute when Jackson rescued her. "Nursemaid" is definitely a step up from that. Sadly, if he wants to have any standing in the community, Jackson can't have more of a relationship with her than that. But she'll have employment, a place to live and someone who respects her. Under the circumstances, that's the happiest ending she could probably imagine.

The "wonderful nonsense" moment was sublime. The TARDIS is wonderful nonsense. So is the Doctor. That's why I love this show.

I only know DM from Blackpool and it's been awhile since I've seen it. For some reason I just didn't pay as close attention to his rapport with DT as I did to DT with Sarah Parrish, which seems sort of silly now in retrospect. I'll have to watch it again. (Darn!)

I read Rosita the same way, and I do agree with your assessment of the situation. It was also clear that the Doctor thought Jackson was being a bit short-sighted, what with that Look he gave him when Jackson said she'd be a nursemaid. But, as you say, that's really the best outcome for her in context.

Wonderful nonsense, yes. I keep thinking of that and smiling.
