Day 52 [Call to Everyone]

Apr 03, 2011 22:32

Has anyone ever seen the TV show The Prisoner?  I can't help but notice a striking resemblence from the show to our own situation.  Thankfully, we don't refer to one another by number and we are allowed to arm ourselves.  Though, it does lead me to wonder, who are the warders?  Who are the real prisoners?  Who among us is Number Two?

Teresa is number one. Always was. Than she died.

So she was the one behind bringing us all here?

No...it's her number. Number four. Blood eye Miata. That is me. Teresa. Number one. That is her. Is our rank.

Ah. I was referring to the characters in the television show: Number One was the mastermind behind bringing everyone to the Village.

Or maybe we're dead.

Oh, I doubt that very much.

Perhaps you should watch a little less television.

It's been over 20 years since I caught a re-run; the show is almost as old as I am. I've merely been noticing the similarities between the show and our situation.

Have you ever seen it, my dear?

No, I'm afraid not. I'm not extremely fascinated by television, and if what you said is true, it was well before my time.

I'm not one for television either, but it was a surprisingly well created show. I would say you should give it a try, but given our circumstances... Perhaps there is a novelization of it in the library.

There was a television show called The Prisoner where various British spies were sent to "the Village" where some were truly prisoners, and others were warders who kept the prisoners in line. Everyone thought the head was Number Two, but in reality, there was one above him, the one who controlled it all--Number One.

I think it reflects our current situation fairly well.

No one here is 'Number One'. We're all in the same situation and none of us are warders.

Oh, and what makes you so confident?

Because something like this wouldn't make sense. What would an experiment with so many variables accomplish? Further knowledge on human psychology?

And here I thought I had finally found someone who had seen the series....

What if they want something from us?
