A fairly productive day, in its way

Halfway through the second week of half term and I'm only now starting to think it might be nice to have the children back at school so I can do something revolutionary like tidy up, or have half an hour with a cup of tea without anybody asking me anything ( Read more... )

You have *two* weeks half term? *boggles* Ours get a week, sometimes with an extra day at one end. they did play about with two week half terms a couple of years ago but only in Oct/Feb, and I don't think it ever took off.

A lot of schools do it round here. It's only at primary level and it's only at Whit - they usually lose days at feb half term or Easter to make up the difference. When my old primary school brought it in, the reasoning was that the weather was much nicer in May than in Feb, so why not make the most of it! Some places, especially in manchester, it may be more of a hangover from industrialisation when the factory workers had time off (can't remember the proper term for it!).

Two week half term? We never got anything like that!

I love the thought of being accompanied into town by a dragon :D And that's the second day in a row one of your posts has made me giggle so much Mum asked what was so funny (she sympathises about the chives by the way, both I and my sister were very fussy when little *g*)
