I've never seen Squee Radiate From my Father's head before

For anybody here from Torch_wood: Hi, I'm Lydia. I spend most of my time bouncing between American states that start with 'M' and I've been watching some manifestation of science fiction since I was in diapers. While my original fandom-love, embarrassingly enough, has nothing to do with science fiction, it does have sparkle and often five people of wavering ( Read more... )

I have to do the scrunchy eye scroll thing for your post as I still haven't seen the ep. Corey is a fan too, but it's on after his bedtime, so we watch together the next day.

But thanks for mentioning that comm. It's just what I need.

Sorry about all the typing, but It's good, scary and a little on the adultish side, but if you let him sit through any substantial horror movie in the past five years, he should be fine, I think. Then again, I'm a rather sick fuck who can keep her eyes open for almost anything. *shrug*

You'll like it, I'm sure.

Was I the only person who caught that little bit of a suitor's battle between Owen and Jack when they were in the house with Gwen and that kid?

No, it was there. They both go to pick her up right after she'd been shot, and Jack wins that one, but the second time in the house, there was a definite look that passed between them . . . but Owen got her that time.

I need to get someone else that I actually see in person hooked on this show. Shrieking to one's self gets old. :D

That's totally what I had thought, but my father accused me of just overextending ships. I'm glad I wasn't just seeing things.

honest to god they look good even as the newbie and the asshole.

What a wonderful line! I love it. It just sums them up beautifully.

for all the wank they're catching about using a classical horror gimmick, they did do it rather well.

I agree. Now, it may be partly that I don't watch horror movies - no, not ever - so cliches don't seem to obvious. But I like the mood they set up.

it rather is the american dream to run into a room and not mortally wound ANYBODY. Wait... there's something wrong with that. I think you're supposed to kill them.

I loved that scene in so many ways - including that Jack didn't kill them. And I understand (or various levels) why he didn't. I don't understand why Gwen didn't shoot to kill when she had the chance, though. She might have saved Owen. The fact that he ended up surviving wasn't her doing.

I suppose they're going for this whole unconventional heroism tip.

I'd like to see a little more insight into Jack and a little less mystery.

creepy as fuck

Yes.

Cliches aside, The mood is the most important thing to a horror movie, and they were only a few shades off of downright horrifying.

I understand why he didn't, but I also know that it's an obscene horror cliche for someone to bust up in the place and kill everybody. But I really want more insight into Jack's character, fundamentally. If they go through all 13 eps without SOME kind of really explicit explanation, the chances of this getting a second season are slimming.

I have to agree: insight into Jack's character is important, not necessarily in this instance, but in general. They're so busy making him a mysery that we need some more of the inner man to balance that - we don't see much from Jack's point of view, for example.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, because I like him so much.
